Children & Young People

Our programmes of holiday and out of school activities provide the children and young people with ASD the opportunity to experience play activities in a safe and supported environment. It gives them the structure and familiarity they need and enable them to gain confidence, independence and essentially have fun with others who understand them.

The annual satisfaction survey attests to the benefits of the children attending the schemes whilst providing families with much needed respite and an opportunity to spend valuable time with their other children and family members. Our personalised approach to engaging with children leads to improved behaviours, reduction of anxieties, greater engagement and communication and a reduction in incidences of challenging behaviours.

Admission criteria

Autism Concern provides a variety of specialised services tailored for the need of children and young people on the autism spectrum.  The activity days, youth groups and Out and About programme are open to children and young people whose primary diagnosis is Autism, ASD, Asperger’s syndrome or high functioning Autism. Many of the children we support have secondary conditions. If their secondary condition is ADHD then we will accept children. If the child’s needs surpass our capabilities to support them safely and positively then we will have a dialogue with parents to assist in sourcing another provision.  If you are unsure of the eligibility of your child to access the schemes we provide then please contact Autism Concern on 01604 239404 and ask for the Children and Young People’s Programme Manager

We accept children from the September term after their 5th birthday to their 18th birthday.

To register your child on our programmes you need to complete in an Admission and Permission Form and fill out this One Page Profile. When you have filled this in and returned it to us then our Children and Young People’s Services Manager will get in touch with you to confirm registration on our schemes.

OFSTED Registration

At the time of the most recent visit in 2013, the inspector confirmed that we were complying with all the requirements of the Childcare Register.
